On 27 February 2010, the Mariinsky Theatre will be presenting the premiere of a new version of Harald Landers Etudes to music by Carl Czerny. A much-admired 20th century classic, Etudes was created in 1948 for the Danish Royal Ballet. It was premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in April 2003. Lise Lander, the choreographers widow and copyright holder of the work, invited Johnny Eliasen to be the ballet master for the new version of the production. And although the premiere has been set for late February, Lise Lander herself and Johnny Eliasen left St Petersburg at the end of January. We met literally just after the final rehearsal…

So another year, and my last year really at Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance I am so glad I got the opportunity to work with Scott McCabe one more time with a pas de deux from the ballet Coppelia for my year end show. Again it took about 2 good weeks of rehearsing and surprisingly this year about only 2 rehearsals to really learn the dance. So we’ve already made much improvements since last year when we danced the Swan Lake duet. Scott just finished his first year at Juillard in New York for dance, and next year I will be attending Ryerson University for a BFA in Dancing as well. I wish him the best of luck and to continue to work so beautifully as he usually does!
